Bergen Avenue School

Thanks to Linda Shortman who took this photograph.

I am amazed at how photographs are able to jar my memory.

The closest corner was Mrs. Nichols first grade classroom.

I can see the desks with ink wells in my mind's eye.

We attended the Bergen Avenue School from K-3.

I have very few photographs from my childhood.

My parents did not take many photographs.

I reckon this is between 1943 and 1945.

I have no idea who the child in the car may be. 

Jeannie lived a few houses away on Fifth Street.

At that time it was a dead end street.

I believe we are looking at the home of our next door neighbors named Gillan.

Cub Scouts - Lincoln School

That is the great Charles Lyons outside of Lincoln School

with his arms around Joachim Deetlof Jonker and Jerry Greenwood.

I cannot name the other boys. Any help?

I am not in the picture.
