Bob Grubb's Update
Hi everyone,
Bob Grubb asked me to post this for him.
And I invite all of you to contribute a posting to make this blog experiment work.
Hoping you are all well.
Mike Summers
First of all the alumni pamphlet got something wrong on me. And that is that I graduated from the U. of Maryland. That, of course, is incorrect. But I did attend that university. Also a number of alums have asked me about my novel - a potential Pulitzer prize (grin).
So here's the info: it is titled "Mordray's Whale" and can be found on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com. As many of you have been to Bermuda I suspect you might find this
quite interesting from a historic, dramatic, and sometimes comedic point of view.
I, obviously, think it's a good read. If you have any qualms you might ask Diane Huizinga,Grace Rosso, Bob Heaney, Jim McFadyen, Judy Schneider, and Bob Picolla for their untainted input.
Thanks,
Bob Grubb

Some photographs from the Reunion

Post pictures

Does anyone have photographs from the reunion? This is the place to post them.
Does anyone have photographs from our childhood? There are very few photographs of me from my teens. Judy Schneider Kolbert gave me this one. Thanks Judy.
Linda Shortman has some photographs from Bergen Avenue School. Please post as many photos as you wish in JPEG format up to one megabyte in size.
If you have trouble figuring out how to post, send them to me via e-mail and I will post them for you.
There are 15 of us registered as members of this blog. The way Google sets it up, only members may post. If you know any classmates who have had trouble joining have them contact me. Any visitor can see the posts on the blog.
Best regards,
Mike Summers

Getting started
It was great seeing old friends (and acquaintances) again. I took a number of photos that I will try to post once I figure out how to get them from my camera into the computer in E-mail format. They are much too large to post as is. I recently downloaded software to compress the photos and I think that will work. Hoping some of us locals can get together even before the next reunion.

Important Information About Using This Blog
Some of you have contacted me because you are having problems enrolling on Blogger. In the interest of making this blog easier to use I have set it up so that anyone can comment on a post.
A comment is a response to a post. For example, if you want to comment on this post, scroll to the bottom and you will see the word comments. Click on it and a window appears. Type away and press publish this post. Your comment will appear under the original post.
To read a comment, click on the word comments and all comments on a given post will appear. Want to test it? Go to my first post and scroll to the bottom of it. To return to the home page, click on view blog.
You are reading a post right now. A post looks like this and appears at the top of the blog until the next post is sent. The previous post appears below. To send an original post, go to the top right of the home page screen where you will see the words new post. If you are reading this, you are there right now.
The way blogs are set up, only those who become members may post. To become a member, you must be invited. I sent most of you an invitation to join. You were sent a response from Google - the owner of Blogger - with instructions on how to become a member. I understand that some of those invitations and responses ended up in some people's SPAM. If you want to join and need another invite, please email me at:
iansummers@heartstorming.com
There are instructions on my first post which may guide you through posting and sending pictures. Can't figure it out? Send me an email with photos attached (jpegs only) and I will post them for you.
Still stuck? Call me at 610-438-5707

How This Blog Works
The reunion was a huge success. Some of us have been talking about how to keep the energy, spirit and reconnections alive.
This is a great place to post messages, comments, photographs, etc. Our blog will be set up so that only those who are members may see it. The only way to become a member is to be invited.
I plan to invite everyone whose e-mail address is known to us to become a member of the blog. Each person who accepts the invitation will be sent a set of instructions from Blogger who is the host of this site. Just follow the instructions. It should take less than ten minutes even for the computer challenged. You will need a Google ID to take full advantage of all of the features.
Once you are a member of the blog you may visit and post at any time.
The blog's address is:
www.fairlawnhighschool.blogspot.com
If you wish to post a message click on new post which you will find in the upper right hand corner of the window. A new window will appear. Type your post there, type in a title, and click on publish post to send it to the blog.
Never blogged before? Come on. Give it a try.
There are other choices if you wish to change the size of the type or color or center it or... Or just let the default take over.
If you wish to post a photograph (must be jpeg) go to the new post window. You will see a set of icons above the message window. You will see two small squares. The one on the left is for posting pictures. Click on it.
A window appears which asks you if you would like to browse your computer for the image. This will take you to Finder on the MAC and whatever it is called in Windows. Click on the file and its locations will appear in the browse window. Click on the orange tab called publish this image. And as Doc Kamins would say, Voila!
If you want to see a larger version of the photograph, click on it.
If you would like to comment, scroll down to the bottom of any posting and you will see the word comments. Click on it and follow the instructions.
If you get stuck, call me and I will guide you through it.
Thanks,
Mike
